DVIU is a simple endoscopic procedure used to treat narrowing of the urine passage, called a urethral stricture. A fine camera is passed through the passage, and the narrowed part is gently opened using a tiny knife. The surgery takes a short time and has no external scars. Most patients can go home the same day after the procedure. A small tube (catheter) is kept for a few days to allow smooth healing. The main advantage is that urination becomes easy and pain-free again. Mild burning or discomfort can occur for a short while.
